“The living or dying isn’t so much on the table as this expansion at a heart level and a getting to know each other.” RuPaul (“Ru”) Hansen
I heard an Elder talk once about the difference between “having an experience” and “serving an experience”. To me, serving an experience means to bring my entire self, heart forward and wide open to the sacredness of each breath in each moment that makes up the entirety of the experience. To be completely bound in sacred contract with the here and now, understanding that it is the greatest Ceremony.
For over two weeks, Ru and I shared this Sacred Ceremony together and these were the words he had to share that I believe are so powerful and on-point for the experiences so many of us are serving at this time of great transformation.
On a physical, tangible level, Ru brought me into a rhythm of simplicity. He brought me into a balance between searching for the best ways to support his physical body while also making sure I didn’t miss the moments that were available for one of the deepest connections I have ever felt. (Maybe all the resistance towards The Rooster Nation is actually our resistance to the deep presence they invite us to give each moment. Maybe it’s our resistance to all that sacred relationship requires of us.)
It seems that in this time of great, collective transformation, there is a lot of instability, overwhelm, fear/panic, spinning, etc. It feels we are in the middle of death and rebirth. Living and dying. Everything is mixed up into a oneness…pulling us into our heart which carries the rhythm of our Earth Mother…the rhythm of Life. Requiring us to set aside the warrior facade and allowing every part of us to be mothered, not necessarily by any human form, but rather the one great Mother we all share as Holy Beings.
Let us not miss the moment(s) with our attempts to avoid or control outcomes. Let us feed Life without knowing where it will go and in what form it will continue. Let us bring our full selves to this in-between time, open our hearts to ourselves and each other, and bring the balance and Sacred Reciprocity.
Life in it’s fullest form contains all of the things. All of the experiences. All of the feelings. Grief, Gratitude, Sadness, Joy, Anger, Love, Fear, Trust all mixed together in a tiny ball of mash that we feed to Sacred. (There is a mythical lore about Roosters, that they are representatives of the Gods and thus by feeding them, we are said to be feeding the Gods.)
Blessings My Relatives!
Kel and Ru
The morning after he was able to share these words through our dear friend and Animal Communicator, Michelle, Ru transitioned quickly and peacefully in my arms. We spent the day honoring his body and helping his Spirit to transition. His body rests in the corner of the mini horse paddock, under the Beech Tree where I will continue to create his Altar and feed his Spirit each and every day. His Altar will be a place where others who visit our Healing Farm can make their “offerings to the Gods”.
